A website for Linux gamers.

Interested in playing games on Linux? .. GamingOnLinux is an informative website, firmly aimed at the needs of the Linux gamer. Along with the expected list of available Linux games, you’ll find the latest news on upcoming title releases and a lively Community Forum.

The site is easily navigated with games listed by category:

  • Action
  • Arcade
  • Board Games
  • Childrens
  • Emulator
  • Game Utility
  • Puzzle
  • Role Playing RPG
  • Simulation
  • Strategy
  • Unreleased

If you’re looking for something specific, there’s also a searchable database.

Individual game pages contain mini game reviews along with screenshots, a useful key with information such as whether the game is commercial or free, open or closed source, and if the game is single player / multi-player / online-gameplay capable .. as well as links to the the game developers website.

GamingOnLinux is run by Liam Dawe, who explains…

The website originally went live 5th July 2009 but after a little while of me messing around with ideas I had something to go by.

My original idea was something of a mix between two websites already up that where terribly inactive.

My web-host at the time, decided at one point to give up
and basically deleted all their clients and the backups so I
had to start all over again on the 20th March this year.

The site is solely funded and developed by me and really I
intend to keep it that way for a long time to come, it’s my pride and joy.

Eventually when it’s ready the code behind it will be open
sourced, under the GPL or an even less restrictive license.

I would like the forum to grab some attention, and in particular to build a community around the website.

GamingOnLinux’s Community Forum is a lively community where members are willing to help with game installation, organise tournaments, and generally chat about all the latest developments in the world of Linux gaming.
