Be aware that all this is just my opinion and obviously large
corporate giants know best, hence my comments are probably immaterial.
That said, over the years M$ haven't exactly earned the respect of the
technical community as a whole. Even if M$ were to pull a white rabbit
out of nowhere, fix all their problems and make Windows free, I don't
think it's a case of whether people will be moving to Linux, but simply a
matter of when.
For a second opinion, read up on where Bill's investing his money these days, and just how many people in China, India, South America and Europe have already moved to Linux, not to mention the majority of large IT Corporates such as IBM, Oracle, Novell etc..
