KDE 4.0 Released
KDE announced the release of the latest version of their desktop GUI last week. They have spent a considerable amount of time re-working both the back-end and front end of the desktop, trying to make it an even more seamless experience than it is currently.

Reports from the blogosphere have stated that there is currently a number of problems with running KDE4 on Ubuntu, ranging from missing icons to failing programs. Use at your own risk!
Meanwhile, Canonical has recently announced that the upcoming
version of Kubuntu would not be a Long-Term-Support release. to enable
the developers more time to integrate KDE4 into the existing
distribution. They've also announced that Kubuntu Hardy Heron will, on
install, give users a choice of whether to use the older, more stable,
KDE3 interface, or to use KDE4.
