Ubuntu 12.10 named Quantal Quetzal.

The next release of Ubuntu set for release later this year, will be named Quantal Quetzal.

Mark Shuttlesworth’s reasoning behind it, is below.

“Quality comes from focus and clarity of purpose, it comes from careful design and rigorous practices. Q will be all about style on the client, with a refresh of our theme and typography, a start on new iconography and perhaps even a new form factor taking flight.”

So we can all finally look forward to seeing the horrible icon set that has been with us since Lucid Lynx disappear. We can also look forward too the default theme getting a little modernization and possibly a few “new” features as well.

Sweet!

For those of you who don’t know what a Quetzal looks like, see below.
